House history
The original and oldest part of the house was built under Austria-Hungary monarchy by italian workers around the year 1888 as a railway operation house or watchmen´s house.
The name "vechtrovna" was invented by a Czech genius Jara Cimerman in the beginning of the 20.century. It comes originaly from the German word "Wächter" which means the watchmen.
Only from narration of the neighbours we know that around the year 1953-55 it was Mr. Primas living and working here. From this time comes the old photo where we can see Mr. Primas with his wife and daughter.
Between the years 1958-1968 the house was enlarged by about one third.
The crossing-gate was working here till about 1990. In the beginning it was operated by the big iren handle in front of the house (see old photo down left), later in the 50. by the means of steel wires remote control from the train stop Smyslov. In that moment the purpose of the house for the railway company was lost.
We bought it in September 2003. Now we are doing some reconstruction work on it. Any historical information or photos regarding the house are welcome.
Few pictures from the film "Blázni, vodníci a podvodníci" from 1980:.
